Panos Dimakis grew up in Astros of Arkadia and studied English Literature. He worked for 18 months as a translator for the Organizing Committee of the 2004 Olympic Games. He has translated Nikos Kazantzakis’ works “Captain Michael” and “The Ascendant” into English, as well as novels from English and Italian. He appears on the television quiz show The Chase as The Hawk.

He also gives talks through his company, Halcenor, to company executives about cognition, memory and the connection between education and a company’s goals. He speaks 8 languages and is the creator of the etymology podcast “A Thousand and One Words”.

He has written the dictionary “The Berber idiom”, “Etymolexicon” and “A Thousand and One Words”. Also the novels ‘Seventeen Threads’, on which the TV series of the same name was based, ‘The River of a Thousand Blind Men’ and “Posidon”.
